Margaret Hazelwood competed in the 50km event this past weekend. The course is around Hagley Park many, many times. I asked if she could run so far then run the other way but no, same way.
Margaret excelled in her race running 4 hours 50 minutes coming first in her age group beating the grade / distance record by a whole 1 hour. Well done Margaret.

Novice Cup 2014
Despite the wet weather good competitive fields contested the Novice Cup at Taylor Dam on Saturday afternoon. This was the first handicapped event of the 2014 season.
The closest finish of the day came in the Boys 10 and under. At the end of 1 km just one second separated Angus Kopua and Finn McKenzie.
The next race at Taylor Dam is for the Burton Cup on Saturday 3rd May and once again all competitors (except walkers) will start off on handicap. However it will be an extra challenge for seniors and veterans who will step up to longer distances.

2014 new season
We had our open day at the Wairau Bridge Renwick last weekend. Attendance was not great but understandable given the summer sport were winding down with finals everywhere. We do have some photos in our photo gallery.
Today it is another pack run starting from Riverlands Community Hall where you go onto the Wither Hills and return. Anyone from the community are welcome to run, jog, walk or talk then enjoy a cuppa afterwards.
Next week the competition begins at the Taylor Dam with our Scratch race. Again everyone is welcome whether a member or not. Just come and enjoy and of course a cuppa afterwards.
Thanks to Sheila Waters we have had a static display in the Blenheim Public Library. Looked impressive thanks Sheila.
