July 4, 2017 by Les

Well the 6 week challenge is finally over we can all get back to our normal lives, congratulation to everyone who gave it a go.
I’m sure it made us all do a bit more that we would have otherwise.
The prize for $50 meal voucher along with other prizes will be drawn at the mid-winter dinner
I have pasted the results below and attached the spreadsheet.

Cross Country Championship Saturday 24 June 2017

June 26, 2017 by Les

The 2017 Cross Country Championship Marlborough Harrier Club was held on Saturday at Kemp’s Farm, Seventeen Valley.  Unfortunately no photos available.
The course was well received by all competitors as it gave all grades the opportunity to see where everyone was on the course. It was a bit challenging with a stream running through the middle, flat to undulating. Underfoot conditions were a bit greasy and the overhead conditions could not have been better. A real delight for the “hard-core” cross country runners and walkers. Some thought the hills were a bit steep so next year we plan a flat course but undulating (definition hills).
Results were:
1000 metres
Girls 7 and under;
Leia Shaw 1 (6.47)
2000 metres
Boys 12 and under;
Connor Pugh 1 (9.42), Michael James 2 (10.39), Matthew Hall 3 (10.51), Andrew Hall 4 (13.22)
Girls 12 and under;
Katie Pugh 1 (12.50).
3000 metres
Boys 14 and under;
Jimmy Luff 1 (16.13)
Girls 14 and under;
Jorja Bacchus 1 (14.54)
4000 metres
Girls 16 and under;
Anna Barnes 1 (24.17), Sophia Bendell 2 (25.26)
6000 metres
Men under 16;
Gus Marfell 1 (25.46), Hunter Bendell 2 (31.21)
Walkers;
Alison Blackmore 1 (53.27), Sheila Waters 2 (53.40), Kay Leach 3 (1.05.45)
Veteran Women;
Emily Marfell 1 (29.57) Lynne Fitzpatrick 2 (32.08), Margaret Hazelwood 2 (39.06
8000 metres
Senior Women;
Megan Kain 1 (54.54)

12,000 metres
Senior Men;
Cameron Kain 1 (54.05), Adam Baker 2 (54.34)
We still have 3 hard pack runs cross country to complete a very successful Cross Country campaign. We now prepare for road races commencing 22nd July with a 5km time trial.

Novice Cup 2017

April 10, 2017 by Les

After a week of rain this handicap event was held on a revised course at the Taylor Dam Reserve.

This is what they call “shoe deep”

Underfoot conditions was not too wet and proved to be fast. All who competed thought it was a better course than the original because it is fast so will see if the Club uses it again.

Just a little wet for the Club Captain
