Walking

Marlborough/Nelson Combined Cross Country

April 19, 2026 by Kay Leach

This is a combined event with Nelson and Waimea clubs.  All abilities welcome with distances from 2km to 10km depending on age.  Children are very welcome.  This is a cross country and there are creek crossings – definitely a trail shoe event!  Heads up – due to the creek crossings there may be a cancellation if we get heavy rain prior.  Check the website and Facebook.

Meet at Kaituna Ridges. 76 Readers Road, Havelock (SH6) – Start time 1.40pm for a 2.00pm start.

Post run/walk gather at the Trout Bar, Pelorus Tavern, Canvastown, for drinks and nibbles.

Ward Whale Trail

April 19, 2026 by Kay Leach

Meet at Flaxbourne Heritage Centre, 57 Ward Street (Bonus Extra: Go early for a look around the Heritage Centre, entry $10 – Don’t leave it until after as it closes at 3.00pm). This is an out and back run/walk, as far as you wish to go. Alternatively walkers, after meeting everyone at Ward, can head to Hauwai near Lake Grassmere and walk to Ward.

Stay post run/walk to enjoy afternoon tea and a chat. Bring a plate to share with others.

Look for the Harrier sign.

Car Pooling: An informal carpool is being ‘organised’ from Redwoodtown Community Hall on Weld Street. Be there at 12.45pm for a 12.50pm departure to Ward. Really, it’s just a meet up where you might jump in with others, or take people in your car.

Because this is a championship race and handicap race at the same time, it will be a HUGE help to us if you are coming or even think you may be coming, to pre-register. It is easy to do and will make things a lot easier on the day.  (Note: you will still be able to enter if you don’t pre-register.)

Please pre-register with Webscorer using the link https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=442189. This is of assistance to the Race Handicapper.
