Annual Time Trial 2013

July 28, 2013 by Tracey

Club members contested the annual time trial on Saturday afternoon on the lower track of the Wither Hills Farm Park. The time trial has been a regular event on the calendar since 2008. It is used to assist the club handicappers leading into the road racing portion of the calendar when a number of handicapped events take place. It also aids in the selection of teams for the annual Queen Charlotte Relay.

Organisation is very relaxed in that children can opt to run the 5 km distance if they wish.

Winners in the junior grades were Luke Jones, Emily Munro, Hannah Munro, Anna Barnes and Bailey McKay. The latter two opting to run the full 5 km. John Kennedy headed home the main field in the 5 km followed by Andrew Curnow and Robbie Barnes. Helen Munro was the first walker home.

Club Cross Country Champs 2013

June 30, 2013 by Tracey

Small but competive fields contested the club cross country championships held at Stranraer Farm, Okaramio on Saturday afternoon. Early heavy fog cleared to make way for blue sky. The course was in prestine condition with the usual one or two boggy patches and a small amount of water in the creek.

Junior titles went the way of Angus Kopua, Amber Bendell, Hunter Bendell, Lucy Bendell and Sophia Bendell. Joanne Farrell, Margaret Hazelwood and Rab Rodger claimed back-to-back titles in their resepective veteran grades.

John Kennedy was a comfortable winner in the veteran mens race but the actual silverware went the way of Peter Mann by virtue that both John and runner-up Phillip Sim weren’t registered club members.

Other winners included Kiri Johnson, Andrew Curnow and Kay Leach.
