Lion Foundation Rotorua Marathon 2015
The Barnes family headed north for the weekend to take part in the Rotorua Marathon and associated events on Saturday. Robbie competed in the marathon run, Anna took part in the quarter marathon run and Leanne contested the 5.5km run.
Robbie Barnes 2hrs 58min 38sec. (26th overall; 1st M50-54) – Marathon Run
Anna Barnes 57min 35sec. (117th overall; 55th F0-99) – Quarter Marathon Run
Leanne Barnes 34min 37sec. (45th overall; 24th F0-99) – 5.5km Run

Nelson Shoe Clinic Half Marathon 2015
Keith Zanders, Bruce Hillis, Margaret Hazelwood and Don Bate lined up on Sunday morning at Saxton Field Athletics Track for the Nelson half marathon and quarter marathon runs. Margaret finished 1st in the F60-69 Age Group over the 21.1km distance.
Contested in sunny conditions overall line honours went the way of Oska Inkster-Baynes in a time of 1hr 09min 29sec. Paula Canning set a new course record of 1hr 23min 22sec. in the process of claiming her 10th successive women’s title.

Burton Cup 2015
The Burton Cup handicapped event was contested at Taylor Dam on Saturday afternoon. The original W.G. Burton Trophy which dates back to 1933 is presented to the Senior Men’s race winner.
Race winners on the day were Andrew Hall, Gemma Bishell, Hunter Bendell, Sam Hamilton, Kiri Johnson, Linda Hall, Sheila Waters, Adam Baker, Tim Hamilton and Hamish Hargest.
The final handicapped cross country event of the season will take place on Saturday 16th May. The Handicap Race which was first introduced in 2014 will be contested on a new course down Sutherland Stream.

Alpine Lodge Loop the Lake 2015
Last weekend marked the 20th Anniversary of this popular run which is contested in an anti-clockwise direction encompassing one loop of Lake Rotoiti. Robbie Barnes, Bruce Hillis, Simone Moar and Jan Curnow were amongst the 366 competitors who took part in the 25km event which was held fine conditions.

NZ Mountain Running Champs 2015
Robbie Barnes added another national running title to his collection when he lined up in the NZ Mountain Running Championships at the weekend. The event was contested in the Grampians Hills behind Nelson on a wet Saturday afternoon.
Robbie covered the 9.3km 2-lap course which included a 595 metre climb and 565 metre descent in a time of 47.06 minutes to finish first in the Mens 50-54 Age Group and also head home the other Masters Men aged 50 and over.
National marathon champions Dougal Thorburn (Wellington Scottish) and Sally Gibbs (Tauranga Ramblers) claimed the senior titles.
