Queen Charlotte Relay – Postponed to 3 December 2022
You will be aware of the rain storms the Top of the South experienced July and August 2022. Considerable damage to roading and infrastructure occurred along the relay route Picton to Havelock.
We have been liaising with Marlborough Roads regularly in the hope our event could still take place.
The problems they have has been compounded by the damage to SH6 and SH63 which are important routes between Blenheim and Nelson not only for commerce but the ability for people to move around safely.
After inspecting the Queen Charlotte Drive by bike on Sunday and talking to Marlborough Roads on Monday a decision has been made to postponed the Queen Charlotte Relay until Saturday 3rd December 2022. A major factor is also we do not want to put unnecessary pressure on the contractors who are doing their best to get the roads open in a safe way to the general public (us).
We sincerely hope you understand the reasons for this decision and will continue to support Marlborough Harrier Club and Queen Charlotte Relay to the postponed date.
To those teams that have already entered and paid the entry fee we offer you the following choice:
- Entry withdrawn and entry fee $200 less administration fee $40 refunded back to the card the entry was paid by.
- You leave your entry intact for the postponement date 3rd December 2022. If electing this choice you can, prior to the new date, withdraw a leg runner and have a new leg runner/walker register in their place (no additional cost).
To allow us to complete the necessary administrative duties, if the team captain registered against a team can email qcr@harriers.net.nz quoting the team’s name and which choice 1 or 2.
We look forward to hearing from you.
