Established in 1986, the Gazley Volkswagen Wellington Marathon has been Wellington’s favourite footrace for three decades.

Based at the famous Westpac Stadium, the fast, flat, scenic route around Wellington’s spectacular waterfront creates an occasion for all age and ability. You might even win a trip to the New Caledonia Marathon.

With a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and the Kids’ Magic Mile, there’s something for everyone. 4000 runners and walkers can’t all be wrong. But don’t take our word for it. Find out for yourself

Hanmer Half Marathon

The Hanmer Half Marathon takes competitors on a unique journey through Hanmer Forest amongst amazing mountain scenery. This is a great pre race for the Christchurch Marathon.

Saint Clair Half Marathon

Starting and finishing at the Saint Clair Vineyard Kitchen on Selmes Rd just outside Blenheim, the half marathon 21.1km course winds through vineyards, up and over short stop banks and alongside the mighty Wairau River. With the Wither Hills to the south, the Richmond Ranges to the north and the vineyards ablaze in their autumn colours, the Vineyard Half is the most scenic half marathon in New Zealand. Less than 4km of the course is on sealed road, and the course is mainly flat with off-road terrain that can be uneven underfoot.

ASB Christchurch Marathon Cancelled due to Covid 19

Take a crack at that most timeless of athletic challenges – the full 42.2k marathon. Inspired by the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games marathon, the ASB Christchurch Marathon takes in much of the same historic route with a flat, fast and scenic tour of iconic landmarks such as the Christchurch Town Hall, Hagley Park and the Avon River. The course is NZ’s fastest & the distance is certified to IAAF & AIMS standard.
