The competitive winter season may be over but Marlborough athletes have been in action around the country in an event packed last week:
Rabbit Island Rampage 5th October 2013
Robbie Barnes and training partner Dale Smit won the half marathon and 10km run events respectively. The 21k distance doubled up as the South Island Masters Games half marathon event. Carolyn Brown won Gold in the F55-59 grade with a time of 2:05:40 and Robbie’s 1:19:27 also won Gold in the M50-54 grade.

South Island Masters Games 5th-13th October 2013
Not content with winning the half-marathon Robbie continued his rampage into the other South Island Masters running events, winning another gold in the 5km M50+ grade with a very sharp time of 17:41 (2nd overall) and yet another M50+ gold in the Dun Run (which doubled as the cross country event) with 1:51 (3rd overall).
Joanne Farrell ran a fast 21:34 5km to take Gold in the F45+ grade and Ray Waters ran unopposed in the 5km M75+ grade to win Gold with an impressive 29:56.
The Dun Run
Besides the ubiquitous Robbie three other Marlborough Athletes took on the mountainous 22km Dun Run:

Wairarapa Half Marathon 13th October 2013
Tracey Sims put in a solid performance in the hilly Wairarapa half marathon coming home in 2:08:24 (14th F35-44)
