DESCRIPTION:This event 20th November 2021 has been cancelled. Main reason is the road at the Blenheim end is closed due to road remediation after the July 2021 storm and will not be open until Christmas or later. \nThis is a fantastic event\, co-organised by the Harrier Club.  From Cobb Cottage\, the race follows the Molesworth track to Hanmer Springs.  The run can be done by one person as an ultra-marathon\, a two person team or a four person team. At the end of Rarangi turn sharp left going up the hill until you reach Whites Bay Camping Ground corner. DESCRIPTION:The Burton Cup is the oldest trophy in the Club. It is a Cross Country handicapped race at Marathon Downs. SUMMARY:Pack run/walk Black Birch Stream
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this very interesting event going to a place not many have been or run/walk from.\nAll meet 17.5km up the Awatere Road from SH1.\nLook for the Harrier sign. \nYou go as far as you want to go and return. \nPost run/walk join us for a chat over afternoon tea. Please bring a plate to share with others. \nBlack Birch Track is a walking and mountain biking track in the Awatere Valley within the Ferny Gair Conservation Area. Access is via public easement across farmland\, with approximately 2km from the Awatere Valley Road to the start of the DOC managed area. The track follows Black Birch Stream north through scrub and then west through kanuka forest between the Black Birch and Blairich Ranges. From Awatere Valley Road to Black Birch Bivvy is about 9km. Hunting and dogs are permitted in the area with appropriate permission from DOC. Mountain biking is also a permitted activity in the area. \nThe initial parts of the track are relatively flat and suitable for all levels of fitness\, however there is a steep climb for the last 1.5km to Black Birch Bivvy\, which is situated at about 840m altitude. In addition to the main track it is also possible to make a short but steep climb up to Blairich Ridge from the start of the track.
