Tasman Cross Country Champs 23 July 2016

July 25, 2016 by Les

A report from Seb Bacchus:

Which way? Have we been there yet?

Jorja, myself and  Don competed at the Tasman champs over in Bradford park Nelson yesterday.  There was a very light drizzle, but apart from being very slippery under foot for most of of the flattish track, it was great conditions for running.

Jorja competed in the under 13s race  and did a very good time of 10 min for two kms, Considering the very slippery surface , a very credible finish  to confirm that Jorja is  the Tasman Cross Country Champ for under 13 girls.

Don and I did the 8km masters race ( My watch recorded 7.6km) and I got in at a time of 36.37min and Don 39.48 min. I think I came fourth in the 35-49 division but will have to wait till results come out.

Cheers
Seb

Half Moon Bay Okiwi Bay pack run 16th July 2016

July 24, 2016 by Les

A great turn out for the out of town trip with 16 runners and 3 Walkers, another cracker day with awesome views of the snow-capped Inland Kaikoura’s.
Neville won the navigation award being the only runner who didn’t take the wrong turn and getting to the top of the hill first, even though he thought that everyone else was ahead of him.
A really great off road run, with two monster hills to climb and long technical downhill back to the carpark for a sausage and cuppa, to restore the energy levels. Many thanks to Allister for doing the driving and supplying the bus.

Hare Hounds and Harriers 9th July 2016

July 24, 2016 by Les

This was a first for both the Harriers and also the Hunt Club. The weather was kind to again and we got to see some of the Awatere country side that we never would otherwise get to see.
The hounds (you’re not allowed to call them dogs) took off followed by the Huntsmen and then the Harriers.
They got to see a few Hares but they quickly disappeared over the horizon never to been seen again.
It was a great day and a nice to do something a bit different.

Ward Windmill pack run 2nd July 2016

July 24, 2016 by Les

We had a great turn out, with a great mix of runners, walkers and young people all out there enjoying themselves.
The weather couldn’t have been better, warm conditions, very little wind and spectacular views.
Everyone made it to the top of the Windmill hill with some deciding to carry on to the Cone summit and then on to Ward beach and returning via the road.
A few of the runners received a bit of a “hurry up” from the electric fence before having to ford the river and then onto the beach then return run back along the road.

Monaco Mid Winter Marathon Results 2016

June 20, 2016 by Les

We had a great day, the rain held off and the cool still conditions made for some very fast times across all the teams.
Living up to their name the Sneaky Blasters came in first from the Marlborough Teams, holding the fast finishing Snail Slayers with the Shockwave Dynamos having just a bit much to do in the last leg.
Kevin Bishell and Don Bate competed in the 2-person Relay
Margaret Hazelwood , Robbie Barnes, Paul Knight and Hedley Meacheam all ran the full Marathon.
