SI Masters Games Blenheim
A big shout out to all the helpers at last nights South Island Masters Games, 5k and 10k running and walking events. It would have been nice to see a few more competitors there, but in these uncertain times it is to be expected. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly, with every one enjoying what turned out to be a beautiful Blenheim evening. We has no issues out on the course with everyone finishing and returning safely. There were no timing or result issues either so the evening was a real credit to the individuals who helped and the club in general. While events like this does create a bit of work, for not a lot of return, it does a lot to promote our sport, health and fitness in general and keeps running and walking relevant in the ever changing sports world.Cheers Peter Mann

Mt Vernon Grand Traverse, Mt Vernon Fun Run/Walk, Kids Challenge
This event took place on Sunday 13th June 2021 after a years hiatus due to Covid 19.
The day perfect on the Wither Hills with great views out to Cook Strait, Blenheim, Renwick and surrounding districts.
Fields were smaller than in past years as were running time but those that entered into the spirit of the morning, enjoyed themselves immensely. Who said runners do not smile.

King & Queen of the Withers 9th January 2021
We Woke to overnight 1mm drizzle that did nothing but kept the dust down.
Tents erected, finish line set out, BBQ set up, officials arrived for their 7am race brief making sure all knew where they had to be to keep competitors safe, Rural Fire Service arrived as a safety measure, Coffee Cart arrived. We were ready to go.
1st off the start were the walkers at 7.30am and they were all keen.
2nd off the start were the Hybrids where they social walked and run but reminded those that finished 60 minutes and below, they would automatically transferred to the run using their Hybrid time. This is to be fair to the true spirit of Hybrid competitors.
3rd of the start were the runners all grades. What a great field that took to the hills. With online entries we know who they are but anyone can rock up on the day and seize the day. That is what happened.
