– Great value
If you are new to Marlborough and run, walk and would like to give it a go, we invite you to come along and try us out. If you have lived in Marlborough for a while and need the challenge of meeting people and go to new places, we invite you as well.
We try to cater for all ages and all levels, whether you are a beginner, an elite competitor, or like most of us, somewhere in between. Our club has been active in Marlborough since 1933.
You get to go places you would generally not be permitted to go. We have excellent relationships with farmers, Local Government and Central Government that allows us to get to these places. The Wither Hills are not just what you see in the skyline. The runs in gullies, tracks formed and not properly formed are just stunning, as are the views.
We cater for all types of running walking. These include cross country pack runs, competitive runs, road pack runs, road competitive runs, relays and most importantly, fun.
Between March and September we have our Winter program then October to Early March we have our Summer Runners program.
In Winter we have our training run starting from Redwood Community Hall, Cnr Weld and Cleghorn Streets, commencing at 6pm each Thursday. You run/walk as far as you want, as fast or slow as you want and generally all finished and home by 7pm.
In summer we have our Summer Runners program starting at 6pm every Thursday. This is held in a pre-arranged spot in Blenheim, different each week so you could be running on the road, on the river bank, or the Wither Hills. Finished by 7pm. This program can challenge you with a couple of 5km time trials so that you can see your progress.
In 2018 the Committee spent time in preparing a Strategic Plan for 2019 to 2023. This was completed with the help of Sport Tasman (Rory Campbell} to who we are indebted for sharing his knowledge. The Strategic Plan can be found here.
